The Spaces Within: opening reception

The opening reception for my solo exhibition The Spaces Within was held on Friday, June 1 from 7-10 pm. I’m happy to say that there were people in the gallery for the whole three hours (lots of people!). All in all, I had just over 70 friends, family, work buddies, photo club members and strangers show up to view my work. I have no idea how many people saw the gallery show over the course of the week that it was up, but with all of the PrairieView School of Photography students plus people dropping in to see my show, my guess is that I had somewhere between 100-150 visitors.

Putting on a gallery show gave me a reason to print my work (to see it large and on display), but above all, it was such a pleasure to share my art (and my soul) with everyone. I loved seeing and hearing the response to the photography that I chose to display, and watching people’s faces as they stopped to take a particular piece in, or to read one of the accompanying poems. Thanks (so much) to everyone who came to my show. Your support meant a lot to me!!!

So that you can get a sense of the gallery atmosphere on opening night, I’ve included quite a few photos below. My friend Jeope took the one above, and my sister Elaine took the rest.
