Rob and I went on a lovely long bike ride today… we rode trails, we both had a minor wipe out, we had mini-races — he beat me on the trails, I beat him on the road… we rode to Assiniboine Park and then to FortWhyte Alive and then through Assiniboine Forest and back home. We saw deer, flocks of geese, a herd of bison and a horse. We found an awesome tree house, plus bench seating and a checkerboard made out of tree stumps. There were leaves all over the ground, crunching beneath our bike tires and sunny skies overhead. In short, it was the perfect fall bike ride. We are both tired and smiley. We are happy :)

I’ve spent my last couple of weeks (maybe longer?) feeling more stress than I’d like. It started off slow and innocent-like, but has been building up level by level until finally last week I broke down and cried. At work. In front of a kind almost-stranger. I don’t know who else is like this, but when I feel like I’m barely handling things, if someone goes out of their way to be nice to me (in this case asking in a very concerned voice “so how are you?”), that’s what usually causes me to spill over.

Kato and I went for a walk in Assiniboine Forest today. Actually, I went for a walk while she went for a run — I think she covers about three times the distance that I do with all of her running back, forth and sideways. It is our favorite place to go in Winnipeg, most especially because we choose to go to the quiet/untamed section between Roblin and Grant. We very rarely see any other people and get the forest all to ourselves and the wildlife. I always feel such a sense of peace when I’m in there and wanted to share a small glimpse of how beautiful it is.
