I don’t have a lot of farm-related photos from December because my sister and I didn’t head out until our annual family gathering for Christmas. Mom did send me a couple of photos to show the progress on the scale shed that Warren has been building on his yard. When it is done, it will be large enough to park both the semi and grain trailer inside it. On days when it isn’t too cold or windy to safely work, Warren and Dad have been framing in the walls and rafters.
Of course family (and hearty meals) are a big part of farm life and so for Christmas, Mom and Dad invited all of their kids, their grandchildren, four dogs and several other people to eat, eat some more, chat and play games late into the evening. All told, there were 25 of us. Mom & Dad showed their creative sides yet again — one of the highlights was the beautiful farm sign that my Dad made and gifted to my brother Gordie, and the other was the NINE scarves that my mom knit and gave to the ‘girls’. That’s all of us lined up with them.
In the morning, Elaine and I took our dogs for a two mile walk in the frigid cold. The wind wasn’t too bad walking back, but going west up the hill wasn’t so much fun. Fortunately, we had almost every inch of skin covered up, so all was well. My camera battery froze though so I wasn’t able to take very many photos. Elaine’s camera kept working and she was able to snap a photo of me all bundled up. I get a kick out of it.
That’s it for December’s installment!
